Tony and Emmy Award-nominated director and playwright Moisés Kaufman works with directors and designers in a specialized laboratory to explore the elements of the stage (lights, sets, sound, and costumes) through the lens of staging and storytelling.

Participants will learn how to fully harness each element for its dramatic, poetic and narrative potential. Participants will be assigned material to work with for the week in collaboration with Kaufman.

MOMENT WORK TRAINING INTENSIVE

Our world-renowned Moment Work Devising Intensive for artists. In Levels 1 and 2, artists train in working with the elements of the stage and practice constructing narratives using Moment Work. Level 3 teaches how to create original devised work using Moment Work. Open to playwrights, performers, directors, choreographers and designers. This training is a highly recommended foundational course of study to prepare students for more specialized offerings for actors, directors, and playwrights.

Devote a weekend to your writing. Through sharings, discussion, and writing exercises, participants learn how to think theatrically about their material, and how to develop the overall narrative, structure, and theatrical life of the play. Participants can work with an original script at any stage of development: from idea to draft to completed play. Fiction, non-fiction and memoir writers are also welcome. Some writers take both cohorts and use the time in between the workshops for re-writes.
